Managed Secure FTP Servers
The secure transport of personal or confidential data has, of late, become a cause of serious concern that needs to be addressed. iWeb recognise the need for a secure FTP solution and are now able to offer fully Managed Secure FTP Servers.
How it works
On purchase of a dedicated server, we will install a "bare bones" operating system and FTP server.
We will then generate your private keys. It's well proven that passwords are a weak form of authentication. While we can offer it as an option, for a fully secure process, we recommend that you generate a private key and certificate for access.
We will configure your required users and install shared keys
We will configure the firewall to only allow access from specified IP addresses and/or networks. If you require roaming users, we can remove the IP
restriction, with the obvious loss of security.
Security overview:
The firewall will be configured to only allow SFTP (port 22) access to a list of specified IP addresses. Server root passwords will be held by 2
staff at iweb and will be changed every 30 days.
All staff access will be via secure certificate.
iWeb staff will maintain the server, including applying software patches as they are released.
Audit logs will be placed in an auditor account folder at the end of each day.
The filesystem of the device will be encrypted, requiring a key (known only by 2 iWeb staff) to be entered at boot to enable the device. In the event of physical theft or loss, the disks will remain useless.
Physical security: iWeb FTP servers are stored in locked cabinets, in our secured suites. Physical access is via photo identification and RFID tags. 24 hour CCTV monitoring is in place.
